Listen to the beating tones with no music, and take out one headphone at a time to hear the phenomenon. The difference between the two frequencies is perceived as one frequency by the brain. It basically works by feeding two different sound frequencies into each ear. The brain then takes the form of the desired brainwave state as it attempts to make up the difference in beating tones, shifting to match the frequencies in the music. In theory, binaural beats have the potential to retrain our brainwaves and put us in a state that is conducive to heightened concentration, lower anxiety and faster learning.
